'Wonder Woman' conquers milestone with $100.5 million debut

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman released last Friday and it has been winning hearts all over the world.

"Wonder Woman" was always Princess of the Amazons, but now she's queen of the box office. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is more than ready to get started on a sequel, and she's already envisioning what the follow-up film will look like.

It seems that "Wonder Woman" has been at the center of controversy for weeks, even though the superhero movie only hit theaters this weekend. The movie was helped as well by the attraction of Israeli star Gal Gadot, known for her part in the popular Fast and Furious series, as the fit and fearless Amazonian.

Jutanugarn set to take over No. 1 from Ko
Two-time defending champion Anna Nordqvist of Sweden also closed with a 69 to finish alone in second place at 204. Nordqvist stayed in touch all day in her bid for a "three-peat" but her own 69 left her two adrift on 204.

"Kong: Skull Island", another Warner Bros. feature that opened in March, has grossed $565 million, according to Box Office Mojo, including a strong showing in China. The movie's viewers "skewed female (52 percent), nearly unheard for a superhero title, which usually draws an audience that is 60 percent male". Yea, we still have to get through the upcoming November 17th release of the Justice League movie first, but the Amazon will nearly certainly be back with Wonder Woman 2. I just want to make great movies. That puts its total box office to date to about $85 million.

During an interview with CBS, Patty Jenkins talked about making Wonder Woman, as well as what makes the character and this particular movie different from the others in the genre. "We didn't cut one scene in this movie nor did we change the order of one scene in this movie from the script that we went in shooting with".

Recently, Gadot stated that people keep asking her who she thinks would win the battle of the two gods. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

Madras High Court stays Centre's ban on cattle slaughter
The self-styled cow vigilantes often attack cattle traders in the name of cow protection and target Muslim men on suspicion. The petitioners from Tamil Nadu objected to the ban, saying it infringed on their right to eat what they choose.

That's far less common... but definitely a good sign considering the overwhelmingly positive reactions to the first "Wonder Woman" movie.
