Nadal overawed by 'impossible' 10th French Open

Nine-time champion Rafael Nadal defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in the men's singles finals to clinch his tenth title at Roland Garros on Sunday.

Until Sunday, Stan Wawrinka had an unblemished record in Grand Slam finals - but then he had never faced Rafael Nadal in the Spaniard's favourite arena, Court Philippe Chatrier at the French Open.

The King of Clay eased to a 6-2 6-3 6-1 win against the Swiss star in just over two hours.

"This has been, I think, a ideal Roland Garros for me", said Nadal, who dropped just 35 games in total on his way to a 15th grand slam title but his first for three years.

And win all the matches he did, finally capturing the 10th French Open championship title that had been eluding him since he last won the Grand Slam in 2014.

Israel approves largest West Bank settlements in 25 years
The Israeli delegation to the United Nations condemned the ad and called for an investigation. The "duty station" designated for the job was "Jerusalem, Palestine (State of)".

The Spaniard, now a 15-time Grand Slam victor, eased to victory in the French capital to the delight of those in attendance.

2005-Won the French Open on his debut in 2005 and a year later beat Roger Federer in the final for his second title. He also won his first U.S. Open title, becoming the seventh man to win all four grand slam titles. It was his 18th crown.

French Open champion Rafael Nadal believes he will be able to get back to top of ATP Rankings if he continues playing the way he has been this season.

He said:"For me the nerves and the adrenaline I feel when I play on this court is impossible to compare to another court. It's the most important event in my career, so to win here is something I can not describe", Nadal said after his win. "I would like to congratulate Rafa". That's clearly his best he ever played.

Wawrinka, however, took positives from the tournament as he had been on the comeback trail after a first-round loss in Madrid and a second-round defeat in Monte Carlo. "I didn't think I'd see him come back to win another slam, let alone emphatically". Thank you to the organisers, the other players, to all the people that make this tournament possible. But there was no doubt what reclaiming the title on his beloved Parisian clay meant.

Qatar sanctions aim to cut support to extremism: UAE
The United Arab Emirates welcomed "President Trump´s leadership in challenging Qatar´s troubling support for extremism". Bahrain also said Qatar needed to "correct its policies" and fight terrorism.

"The only thing that matters is to hold this trophy again", Nadal said.

"It has been a while since I played a good Wimbledon and after what happened with my knees in 2012 it has been tougher and tougher to compete on grass", he said.

Having beaten world number one Andy Murray with a majestic display of power in the semi-final, third-seed Wawrinka arrived full of confidence as, at 32, he tried to become the oldest French Open victor since Andres Gimeno in 1972.

"For sure he's playing the best he's ever played, not only here", Wawrinka said.
