Dozens Injured - Some Critically - In Glacier Bible Camp Deck Collapse

Dozens of people are still recovering after a deck collapsed south of Lakeside on Saturday.

Mellody Sharpton of Kalispell Regional Medical Center said Monday that just nine of the 27 people who were hospitalized there after Saturday's collapse at Glacier Presbyterian Camp remain.

Some 32 people were transported via ambulance to hospitals across Flathead, Lake and Missoula counties on June 17 after a deck collapse at Glacier Camp near Lakeside, according to the Somers Fire Department. Dillon added many of her friends and relatives were taken away by ambulance.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell wouldn't speculate about how the collapse occurred, saying the camp's insurance company will likely look into the incident.

Tropical storm could form by next week
These showers and thunderstorms are developing off a broad area of low pressure near the Yucatan Peninsula in the Southern Gulf. In addition to the Gulf storm, tropical development is possible near the equator over the central Atlantic early this week.

"You have two ambulances in town, but when you have 20-plus people hurt.", Bell said, explaining the importance of mutual aid.

Other patients were taken to hospitals in Whitefish, Polson, Ronan and Missoula.

Sheriff Bell says, "The last one was down in Polson when they had the deck collapse quite a while ago".

On its website, Glacier Camp wrote, "This afternoon, we had a major accident at camp". Please join us in praying for the injured and their families.

Most in Portugal's forest fire died in cars
Portugal was sweltering under a severe heatwave on June 17, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in several regions. Francis referred to the "devastating fire" at the end of his Sunday prayer, delivered from his studio window overlooking St.

The department says it doesn't believe the county has regulations on the maximum capacity of balconies or decks.

First responders from at least 16 fire, EMS, police, and other departments rushed to the scene, according to a Somers/Lakeside Fire Department Facebook post.

The crowd at the time was gathered on the deck to remember William Nickel, a longtime Flathead Valley firefighter who died in April.
