Cavs looking to sign Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose, the youngest player to win the National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) award when he took the trophy in 2011, is in talks over a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, ESPN reported on Thursday.

It was also reported that Rose met with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Rose reportedly "just wants to play ball", according to ESPN's Chris Haynes, making this a race for the team that can define the best role for the former MVP moving forward.

Rose's fit with the Lakers is a little concerning and comes with a territory. Meanwhile, Clark also has fielded interest from Milwaukee, Minnesota and New Orleans, a source said. The Cavaliers are the defending Eastern Conference champions. Ball likely will start for the Purple and Gold, but Rose wouldn't be a bad addition as a backup point guard.

With an already loaded roster of point guards, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Rose to join the Bulls.

The point guard was so dominant, that he broke up what would have been five straight MVPs for LeBron James. Rose made $21.3 million while playing in 64 games for the New York Knicks last season. Both played for coach Jeff Hornacek when he was with Phoenix. Rose was involved in multiple trade rumors before last season's deadline, but the Knicks ended up holding on to the oft-injured veteran.

Police 'ready for any situation' amid huge Muslim protests in Jerusalem
Jordan has repeatedly appealed to Israel to remove the metal detectors and thousands of Jordanians protested in Amman on Friday. The compound, which houses both the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa mosque, is the third holiest site in Islam.

Come home, D. Rose, come home.

Two options stand above all others as safe bets for the point guard: the Bulls and the Knicks.

Rose averaged 18 points per game - his highest scoring output since the year after his MVP season - adding 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. Ring-chasing is never completely off the table, but Rose would be doing so while earning the lowest salary of his career.
