Jadeja breaks SL resistance as India seals series

Jadeja, the world's No.1 Test bowler on the ICC rankings, had been India's day four hero, collecting a five-wicket haul to help his side to a victory that was not just the visitors' largest against Sri Lanka but one which secured a series win.

After Kusal Mendis' delightful hundred on Day 3, it was Dimuth Karunaratne's turn to ensure that Sri Lanka's resolute batting remained the centre of attraction of this match, who did so with a magnificent sixth Test century.

In the morning, Karunaratne progressed through his nineties with a dour bat and night-watchman Malinda Pushpakumara did what members of his tribe often do, irritate the rivals. After resuming the day on 50/2, the hosts lost eight wickets for just 133 runs and were eventually bowled out for 183, conceding a mammoth 439-run lead.

The pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers with four wickets but much more was expected of the veteran spinner as he shoulders the responsibility of leading the bowling attack.

British model kidnapped in Milan, Italy, to be 'auctioned', police allege
The kidnapper used an encrypted account to ask the model's agent for £230,000 ($300,000) to stop her from being sold in auction. In a letter sent to the victim upon her release, Black Death told her that a "mistake" had been made in capturing her.

Ravi Ashwin finished the game when he had Nuwan Pradeep caught by Shikhar Dhawan with the home team 386 all out as India clinched a second consecutive series victory in Sri Lanka.

For a second straight day in Colombo, the Indian batsmen sent Sri Lanka on a leather hunt.

Sri Lanka is still 230 runs behind India in the second innings. They lead the series 2-0 with one match to go.

Earlier in the game, India continued their dominance over the host on the first two days of the second Test after registering a historic win at Galle. A repeat of a slide appeared imminent when next over, skipper Dinesh Chandimal endured his second failure of the match and offered a catch to Rahane off Jadeja. "And that's what happens in test cricket, sessions go away from you and you have to pull it back to win a test match", Kohli said. Indian allrounder Ravindra Jadeja hit an unbeaten 70 as wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha made a patient 67 and Ashwin scored 54 before becoming Herath victims.

The duo handled the Indian spinners with aplomb, using their feet to good effect as they combined the right dose of caution and aggression.

Pacer Umesh Yadav (1/17) was the lone wicket-taker in this session, dismissing opener Upul Tharanga (2) shortly after lunch.

Sri Lanka is still trailing India by 572 runs and will need to score at least 372 runs to avoid following on.

Niroshan Dickwella was the highest scorer among the Lankans with a quickfire 51 runs off 48 deliveries which included seven boundaries and a six. He took the attack to Jadeja, who has now conceded nearly 200 runs in the match for three wickets.
