There were further tensions surrounding North Korea on Thursday with the Pyongyang regime claiming that missiles which could be used to target the Pacific island of Guam would be ready to launch by mid-August.

As far back as 2013 the DPRK threatened Guam after B52's out of Andersen Air Force base flew near the North Korean border saying "the KPA strategic rocket force has already been on a-class alert to wipe out the U.S. Forces and reduce their bases in Guam and other regions to ashes." adding, "The KPA air force is put on alert".

Gov. Eddie Calvo of Guam said on Wednesday North Korea's warning of a possible missile strike on the U.S. Pacific territory was no threat.

Former Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work said in 2014 that Guam increasingly has become a strategic hub for the USA military.

The decline was broad, with all the 11 major S&P indexes lower. Prices for bonds and gold headed higher.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 82.37 points, or 0.37 percent, to 22,002.97, the S&P 500 had lost 8.34 points, or 0.34 percent, to 2,466.58 and the Nasdaq Composite had dropped 38.99 points, or 0.61 percent, to 6,331.47.
