Uber official apologises for 'misunderstanding' in Philippines

In the same meeting, Uber Technologies Southeast Asia manager Michael Brown apologized to LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra for accepting applications for accreditations despite the board's orders. "Respondents, as officers and members of the Board of Directors of UBER, knowingly and willfully violated the orders of the LTFRB, and consented and approved their company's illegal activity of operating vehicles as public utilities without the proper and valid authority coming from the LTFRB, otherwise known as "colorum" activities", the complaint said.

Rival firm Grab has reportedly said the ruling by the LTFRB has seen a surge in the number of bookings made on Grab given Uber's temporary suspension.

The senator expressed hope that the LTFRB can propose a new framework to institutionalize changes to improve transportation in the country.

"If there's been a misunderstanding in the past, that's on us and I apologise for that misunderstanding".

Uber TNVS can not shift to Grab given the LTFRB order on July 26 which stops Uber and Grab from accepting and accrediting new TNVS.

Uber's brief suspension in the Philippines on Tuesday prompted messages of frustration from many people on social media, who said Uber was better than other transportation options available in Manila, the country's sprawling capital.
