While the Home Mini debuted today to compete with the Echo Dot and low-priced smart speakers, the Home Max will compete directly with high-end smart speakers like products from Sonos, recently unveiled Echo Plus and Apple's HomePod. The retailer let slip on Tuesday a pre-order listing for the Google Home Mini, showing a cute, puck-like round mound that looks like a speaker and not much else. Google showed off the speaker by trotting out Diplo, a DJ who's especially popular with audiophiles.
